Inspection

Preparing your school for inspection

Changes with inspection are presenting schools with challenges that require a really focused and consistent approach. Clearly the accent now is on regulatory compliance, but with even less time to showcase the heartbeat of a school – teaching and learning – it is crucial to ensure these areas are as polished as possible.

Our aim is to ensure that when the inspectors’ visit, they will see these areas at their very best, so on what is now limited evidence schools have the best chance of achieving excellence.

When it comes to policies and compliance, we only use ISI Reporting Inspectors who are dealing with these areas all the time – simple as!

PRE-INSPECTION AUDIT

A look at existing documentation including the SEF, a detailed assessment of procedures such as the appropriateness of staff duty rotas and any issues to do with the day to day operation of the school.

PROVIDING FOR INSPECTORS

Site maps, lesson plans, the inspection office, necessary admin back up, clarity about who is doing what and when in the school.

STAFF INSET

What staff should be preparing, the whole school approach, how to enjoy inspection.

A DRY RUN

We will carry out an inspection lasting one or two days concentrating on the impact on staff; this will primarily involve work scrutiny, looking at schemes of work, departmental handbooks and lesson plans, lesson observations and interviews. At the end of the process we will feed back on perceived strengths and weaknesses. The precise format of this will be tailored to individual schools.

POLICIES AND STATUTORY REGULATIONS

We are able to look carefully at these areas and come up with recommendations based on our experience.

Q & A

You ask the questions, we provide the answers. If we can't give you an answer, we'll make sure we find someone who can.
